Article Processing Charges (APC) Information

Journal of Contemporary Art Criticism (JCAC) Publication Charges

The Journal of Contemporary Art Criticism is a fully open-access journal committed to the principle that academic research should be freely accessible to all, without financial barriers. Each article published is immediately available to a global audience, free of charge, with no subscription or access fees. To uphold our rigorous editorial standards and ensure the long-term sustainability of the journal, JCAC has implemented the following fee structure:

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Upon acceptance for publication, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is required. The standard APC is $150 USD, but effective June 01, 2025, we are pleased to offer a discounted rate of:

$100USD APC covers articles of up to 8 pages. For articles exceeding 8 pages, an additional fee will be charged for each extra page. The charge is as follows:

$10 USD per additional page

This fee covers all essential costs associated with the publication process, including professional editing, typesetting, and digital publishing. It also supports the ongoing development and maintenance of JCAC’s digital platform, ensuring the stability and reliability of the open-access distribution.

The APCs further contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility and impact of published research. These include indexing in leading academic databases and integration with advanced digital tools, which improve discoverability and ensure that JCAC articles are accessible and citable across a broad spectrum of global scholarly platforms.

Student Discount and Fee Waiver

To support students facing financial challenges, we offer a student discount or fee waiver program. Students who meet the following criteria can apply:

The student must provide valid proof of enrollment.
The article must meet the publication's basic criteria.

If eligible, students will receive a discount or fee reduction based on the quality of their article and their specific circumstances. Please contact us for more details about the application process.

Article Retraction Fee

In cases where an article must be retracted due to significant errors or ethical concerns, a retraction processing fee will be charged to cover administrative costs associated with managing the retraction process.

Retraction Processing Fee: APC*90%

This fee ensures that all necessary steps are taken to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
